Full Platform Rating
Every online learning platform we've tested, ranked by overall score. Filter by topic or price to narrow down your options.
Use the ranking to build a shortlist
A platform ranking is useful when it helps you narrow a large set of choices into a few realistic options. Start with the subject you want to learn and the result you want to produce. Someone preparing for a programming interview needs a different learning experience from someone practising photography or studying a new language. Treat the order on this page as an invitation to investigate, rather than a decision made on your behalf.
Understand what the scores represent
The figures shown here are provisional editorial estimates. They are not customer satisfaction averages, verified testing results or evidence that every course has been completed by our team. The overall score combines the stored judgments for course catalog, teaching quality and platform experience. Our methodology explains the calculation and the evidence limitations. A consistent formula helps organise the comparison, but it does not validate the underlying judgments or guarantee your learning outcome.
A small difference between two scores should therefore carry less weight than a clear difference in suitability. A broad catalog may be convenient for exploring several subjects, while a focused offering may provide a more direct route through one skill. Read the relevant reviews before interpreting a higher number as a better personal choice.
Filter by a meaningful subject
The topic filters connect this ranking with the learning areas covered on the website. Choose Programming, Data Science or AI Skills when you have a technical objective. Photography and Languages address different kinds of practice, while Study Skills, Interview Prep and Mathematics help you focus on a particular learning need. Selecting a topic identifies relevant providers; it does not mean every course offered by that provider belongs to the selected subject.
Compare access without confusing it with value
The access filters distinguish free options, subscriptions and individual courses. A provider may appear in more than one group because its offerings use different access models. Free learning can have limits, and a paid upgrade may add features without changing every part of a course. A trial should not be confused with ongoing free access. Check the chosen offering directly before assuming that a particular lesson, assessment or download is included.
Think about total commitment as well as the advertised entry point. Review the billing period, renewal arrangements and cancellation procedure. If you only need one focused course, broad access may bring little additional value. If you expect to study several subjects, access to a wider catalog may be more useful.
Inspect recognition and practical features
Completion recognition, mobile apps and offline access are separate considerations. A certificate or badge does not automatically establish accreditation, university credit or employer acceptance. Read the requirements for the specific credential and check whether it serves your purpose. Where recognition matters for a job or further study, ask the receiving organisation what it accepts.
Mobile and offline features can also depend on the plan, course and supported device. Downloaded reading materials are different from full offline access to exercises or assessments. Use the feature filters to find possibilities, then consult the review and provider information to establish the exact limitations.
Make the final choice with a small test
Before committing, examine a syllabus and try a representative lesson or task where available. Look for an understandable starting level, useful practice and a manageable weekly workload. Decide how you will measure progress: a finished project, a stronger conversation or a task you can perform independently.
Keep two or three candidates and compare them against the same requirements. Our reviews provide more detail, while comparisons help organise differences between selected pairs. Revisit the provider's current terms before enrolling, and choose the offering that fits your goal, available time and practical circumstances.
